Guilty! Guilty? Guilty of what? What wonderfully awful sneaky bad thing could I have indulged in that would be worth feeling of feeling guilty over?
Well, I felt bad for sleeping late, not working hard enough, not being thin enough, for having cellulite, for not having my taxes done and not doing all I “should” be doing in order to be successful, for having fun and doing nothing.
There is more, but really, I think you get the drift…
Most women are. And the funny thing is, when we start to take care of ourselves, make space for fun and relaxation and doing nothing, we often get slammed by guilt.
What’s going on?
It’s not just you, it’s the way we’ve all been taught, brought up and raised. It was in our mother’s milk, and the drinking water and there is nothing we can do about that.
But, we can confront it, question it, understand it.
You can help dismantle this idea that you must constantly prove you are worth the space you take up, the time you spend, the joy you allow yourself to indulge in.
You will find power and freedom in refusing this ingrained, knee jerk guilt response as the truth. Find out for yourself what is true!
The flip side?
You are the imperfect flawed human being that you were afraid to admit to.
And so what?
Embrace that and see what happens. It will not inhibit your ability to love, create, and enjoy a full life…the compassion, love, and self respect you gain from this embrace of imperfection will enhance your ability to live your life fully.
Try it – I dare you!
