My greatest pleasure
is a healthy, vibrant
body and mind.

I didn’t start out that way! Growing up with migraines, anxiety, depression, digestive distress and respiratory problems made me fearful of my body, and puberty didn’t help. I learned early on that sugar (and eventually alcohol) calmed my anxiety in the short term, but that momentary escape left me feeling worse and more unstable than ever.

Instinctively I became more attracted to the things that made me feel good from the inside and out. In my teens I started moving my body - running, swimming, biking, and hiking. I started paying attention to food and how it made me feel.

The need for momentary escapes from anxiety didn’t go away completely, but the pleasure of being in a strong stable body full of energy and clarity were becoming more and more attractive.

This experience of pleasure propelled me on a 40-year, unbroken quest: how do I support my body, my whole being – so that I can  be strong and vital and live free of illness and anxiety?

There have been countless hours practicing aikido, yoga, and meditation. I read, discussed, learned, taught, and experimented. I experienced first-hand how important it is to use my muscles, my breath, my mind, and my intention.

Everything was going great, until I entered my 50’s! Someone changed the rules, and didn’t bother to tell me...

When you combine high levels of stress with peri/menopause all bets are off. Even though I was doing everything “right” everything was going wrong.

My stress levels were off the rails, I was separated from my husband, my mom died, I left my job and the community I had lived in for almost 20 years, started a new business and bought a house - all in less than a year!

I experienced almost every symptom of hormonal imbalance there is... night sweats, brain fog, hotflashes, joint pain, giant mood swings, weight gain, terrible sleep…

It forced me back to the drawing board to learn the most important lessons of all:

  • You can’t figure this out on your own, don’t be too proud to ask for help.
  • When the rules of the game change, find a new way to play, don’t be the victim
  • What do YOU really want? Find out what is most important to YOU at this stage in your life. Find a guide who will help you find the answer for yourself.

I had to learn about compassion, self-love, how to tune in and listen to my body to figure out what it needed. Luckily for me, I had many wonderful mentors and guides to hold my hand and help me figure it out.

It’s been an amazing journey full of unexpected twists and turns, and I am so grateful to be on it. It never ends, it’s always interesting, and it leads me to places I never would have thought to venture on my own.

Ultimately, the pursuit of pleasure is what has led me all along, to a body and mind that supports me and my purpose.

The only thing better is being on that journey with other women, discovering where the pursuit of pleasure leads us together.

Studies/Life Experience

I studied macrobiotics at the Kushi Institute in the 1980’s, practiced Aikido, got married, gave birth to a daughter, in 1982 and while a stay-at-home mom, became a yoga and meditation teacher.

After serving as an Executive Chef at a meditation retreat center for 14 years, creating gourmet, whole-food experiences for thousands of people, I founded Kosmic Kitchen as a way shifting people’s experience of healthy eating into a new dimension of possibility and pleasure.

Ten years ago I created Mbodied Women and Mbodied Mastery Coaching (link to oncehub) to help with the stress, chaos and lack of guidance women experience as they go through peri and post menopause.

I’m a graduate of the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and Holistic MBA and am certified as a health coach.

I am currently studying permaculture principles and design.

I live in a small New England town with my husband, 10 bantam chickens, and our dog. We call our 2/10ths of an acre Wayward Farm. We give tours of the garden to help people understand how to create a thriving ecosystem in the middle of town. I also manage Lee Community Gardens where I work on food security for humans, pollinators, and birds. And I am a grandma to two rowdy and beautiful grandsons.
